Wendi Deng Attends Met Gala 2016 After Putin News

Let's hear it for New York! Rupert Murdoch's ex-wife Wendi Deng attended the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute Gala in NYC, on Monday, May 2, after Us Weekly exclusively revealed this past March that she is in a serious relationship with Russian president Vladimir Putin.

Deng, 47, looked gorgeous in a floor-length, sheer and nude gown by Christopher Kane with a floral pattern overlay. She paired her gown with matching drop earrings and elegantly styled her black tresses in a chic updo.

Hours before she hit the red carpet outside of the Metropolitan Museum of Art's storied steps, Deng shared a behind-the-scenes post of herself primping ahead of her mega evening. "Getting ready for #MetGala," the mom of two wrote, alongside a photo of her glam squad applying makeup to her glowing skin. "Thank you @alexarodulfo."

The mom of two — who shares young daughters Chloe and Grace with her billionaire ex, Murdoch, 85 — kicked off Met Gala Monday with an exclusive behind-the-scenes preview of the museum's fashion exhibit, Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology. Inside the NYC institution, Deng was joined by several fashion heavyweights, including Vogue editor in chief and Met Ball chair, Anna Wintour and museum director Thomas Campbell.

Deng also posted a photo from the preview, spotlighting a standout sparkling Chanel gown with an enormous train. "#ManusXMachina #MetGala #CostumeInstitute," Deng captioned the video.

Missing in action on Monday, sadly, was her controversial head-of-state boyfriend Putin, who she's rumored to have been dating for several years. The Met's annual Costume Institute exhibit is one of the many NYC-based causes that remain near and dear to Deng's heart. Murdoch's famous ex has a bit of a role on the upcoming documentary The First Monday, which details how everything is orchestrated on Met Gala Monday. Deng is a major donor of the Costume Institute and was one of the biggest private donors of the 2015 exhibition and gala.

Both Deng and Putin respectively divorced their significant others in 2013 and 2014. Murdoch, 85, the CEO and chairman of News Corp., filed for divorce from Deng after 14 years of marriage in June 2013, after it was reported that he suspected something between his then-wife and former British prime minister Tony Blair. (Blair's rep denied the supposed affair in July 2013.)

Putin, meanwhile, was married to Lyudmila Putina, for 30 years, before the two ended their marriage in April 2014. The former couple share two daughters, Maria, 30, and Yekaterina, 29.

Murdoch married his fourth wife, former model Jerry Hall, this past March in a civil ceremony.
