Sam Nkosana, one of the latest characters of Netflix’s Blood and Water, is the son of Janet Nkosana who is missing at the start of Season 3 and his mother was forced to cooperate with the traffickers for his security. However, he gets rescued at the end of the new season. Additionally, actor Leroy Siyafa plays the role of Sam in the series.
The concept of combining teen dramas with a horrific undertone of crime is not new. Many Netflix shows, including Riverdale and Elite, have adopted storylines that not only walk you through the variety of issues that teenagers face in school but also involve parallel narratives that are riddled with threatening activities gripping their town.
The new South African series Blood & Water on Netflix follows a similar plot line. It initially captures your attention with an underlying dark mystery that leaves plenty of room for future developments. Following that, it gradually unravels its plot with each episode while highlighting the ups and downs of its teenage characters. The show’s ending is fairly straightforward, but the events leading up to it may appear a little convoluted at times.
After much anticipation, Blood and Water is back for its third season! Joining season one cast favorites like Puleng Khumalo and Fikile Bhele, played by Ama Qamata and Fikile Bhele Khosi Ngema respectively with newcomer Leroy Siyafa, who joined as Sam Nkosana from the second season, the new kid in town who’s been teased as a fiery love interest who’s sure to shake things up within the Parkhurst crew.
As the show began, people have been fascinated by his character and performance in the series. As a result, viewers have been curious to know more about Sam and the actor who plays the role. Well, let’s get started.

Sam Nkosana From Netflix’s Blood and Water: The Character Is Played by Actor Leroy Siyafa Is the Son Of Janet Nkosana Who Went Missing in the Series!
In Netflix’s Blood & Water, Sam Nkosana is a mysterious character. Fans of the Netflix series will recognize him from the second season of the show. Sam was first seen arriving at Parkhurst on a motorcycle in the second season trailer, wearing a leather jacket and a quick wit. He quickly sets his sights on Fikile, sparking a flirtatious connection that will undoubtedly lead to an interesting subplot. Similarly, the character is portrayed by the South African actor, Leroy Siyafa (@leroysiyafa).
Like his character Sam, Siyafa is a newcomer to the entertainment industry. Blood and Water is the South African native’s first television role, though he has previously modeled and performed in school theater productions. Despite his desire to be an actor, Siyafa chose to study IT at university and pursue a career in technology. He did, however, sign with a modeling agency in the hopes of one day becoming an actor.
In the previous season, when Sam’s mother, Janet Nkosana, confesses to working directly for the human trafficking organization and makes several attempts to prevent the two girls from discovering their true identities. Finally, a man sent by higher powers breaks into Janet’s house and assaults her, stealing her laptop and all evidence linking her to the kidnapping case. However, the police decide to believe her and place her and Sam under witness protection; since the two have lost contact with the rest of the characters.
Along with all of this, the usual high school drama and romance continued, as Puleng struggles to choose between Wade and KB as her boyfriend. Fikile falls in love with Sam after being duped by the swimming coach, but the boy also goes missing by the end of season 2, having been placed under the police’s witness protection program.
According to the trailer for the third season, Blood & Water may be raising the action bar even higher in this new iteration. The old characters return with new nuances, and Lisbeth will now take center stage as she returns to KB and Malta’s home. On the other hand, Nwabisa Bhele and Sam are still missing. Overall, it will be interesting to see how things are resolved in season 3 of the show.
Is Blood & Water Based on a True Story?
Blood & Water, unfortunately, is not based on a true story. However, the plot is based on an actual event that occurred in South Africa. According to Radio Times, the show is eerily similar to the case of Miché Solomon, a Cape Town resident who went to Zwaanswyk High School.
Cassidy Nurse, a new student, started at the school in 2015. Miché was taken aback by how much Cassidy resembled her. So much so that the two appeared to be identical. Miché told the BBC in 2019 that she felt she already knew Cassidy. “I felt as if I knew her. It was terrifying, and I couldn’t figure out why I was feeling this way.”
It turned out that the two were sisters! Lavona Solomon was sentenced to ten years in prison for kidnapping a three-year-old baby in a Cape Town hospital. In 1997, she took the baby from the hospital and raised her as her own. Miché discovered after 17 years that her high school friend Cassidy was her long-lost sister.
The Blood & Water creators have not confirmed that this specific event inspired the series. However, the case and the plotline of the show are undeniably similar.
