Nearly half of Britain's women have only ever had one true love, say researchers.
But men are more easily smitten – with more than half saying they have fallen in love with up to five partners over their lifetime.
The research for ice cream makers Häagen-Dazs found that 47 per cent of women and 39 per cent of men have only ever had one love.

Among men, 51 per cent have loved between two and five different people but for women this falls to just 45 per cent, said the survey of 2,000 adults.
Three quarters of both sexes believe in true love and, happily, only 5 per cent of men and 5 per cent of women have never fallen in love. Most of these are under 24 and still waiting for Mr or Miss Right to come along.
Despite the rise of technology and the seemingly casual nature of relationships, the study also revealed how traditional many Britons still are when it comes to love.
